Embracing mobile and human potential

February 6, 2015

Last year mobile use surpassed desktop use. This is not news.

It is now official, however, that we are living in the Mobile Millennium.

How people use mobile is rapidly changing. Just as people are moving to urban centers (more than 50 percent of the world lives in cities) to realize economic opportunity, everyone sees opportunity in mobile devices.

Smartphone makers are aggressively pursuing every corner of the earth, from Western China to Sub-Saharan Africa. This competition, largely between Apple, Samsung, Huawei, HTC, LG and upstart Xiaomi, is creating better, faster, and cheaper devices than ever before.

Companies want to sell you apps, games, productivity tools and more on smartphones. Virtually everything can be turned into a bite-size experience that fits in your pocket.

This is not only changing the way we solve problems, it is actually changing the way we behave in all facets of life.

We are told to put the phone down well before we go to sleep because the backlighting can reduce melatonin levels and disrupt our sleep patterns.

Car accidents are caused by smartphone users, squeezing in an extra minute of Candy Crush or sending texts. Many report feeling the buzz of a cell phone in their pocket when it isn’t ringing.

We are changing.

The trick is to channel that change towards positive outcomes. Mobile can be used in a way that balances face time and screen time, real-life interaction with digital interaction.

That’s why we built Unleesh, which embraces mobile technology, but at the same time encourages people to experience the real world.

There is plenty of knowledge to gather on a digital tool, but the life skills that require interactions with people and teams require the human touch.

We have tasked ourselves with delivering a world-class product that partners top technology with human experiential potential.

And that is news.
